earth teems with life
birdsong hatches each new day
bees busy around blooms
butterflies balance on leaves
in dreams I return –
relinquish plastics and poisons
particulates insecticides
carbon emissions
in dreams
I swear careful stewardship
my dreams cannot last
I awake with hope displaced
earth’s health has failed
I am far too late
